According to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association, Tesla's EU new car registrations, which serve as a proxy for sales, plunged 53% year-over-year to 5,475 vehicles in April and have dropped 46% over the first four months of 2025. Tesla's percentage of new car registrations in the EU fell to 0.6% in April from 1.3% a year earlier.

Combining EU sales with those from the U.K., Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, Tesla's new car registrations tumbled 49% in April to 7,261 vehicles.

Tesla's downbeat showing came even though overall battery-electric vehicle (BEV) registrations in the EU jumped 34% in April.
