Patrick Jean began his career in 1988 as a copy ed🍃itor and occasional writer for the former Clearwater Sun in Florida. He then worked for over a decade at The Greenville News in South Carolina.

Patrick moved on to management in 2001 at The Northern Virginia Journal (now the Washington Examinꦓer), where he served as assistant managing editor. He then worked at the Hickory Daily Record in North Carolina as city editor and copy desk chief, con༒tributing to North Carolina Press Association award-winning coverage. He moved on to the former Presbyterian Lay Committee in North Carolina as a staff writer, then to The Observer News Enterprise in North Carolina as managing editor.

Patrick spent the 2010s as a caregiver for his agin🐽g parents. He then joined Grammarly 🍒as a writing expert (proofreader and editor) for 2½ years and has served in his Investopedia role since 2021.

Patrick is also a volunteer editor for Pitch Labs and a volunteer for community theater productions.
