Meta Platforms (META) CEO Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly looking to the Trump administration for help in fighting against looming fines from the European Commission, The Wall Street Journal reported late Monday.

The New York Post reported last week, citing sources close to the situation, that the Commission is likely to rule that the changes don't go far enough, and Meta could be fined over $1 billion for still operating in violation of the DMA. Meta is looking to get the Trump administration to respond "aggressively" against the decision in hopes that it could get the penalty reduced, the Journal reported, citing people familiar𝓡 with the conversati🍌on.

“This is not just about fines—it’s about the Commission seeking to handicap successful American businesses simply because they’re American, while letting Chinese and European rivals off the hook," a Meta spokesperson said in a statement to Investopedia.

A European Commission spokesperson declined to comment on the report, but told the Journal that it enforces laws the same for any company that operates in the 澳洲幸运5官方开奖结果体彩网:European Union, regardless of where the company is from. The White 🅘House dౠid not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In February, the Trump administration said it would consider tariffs or other actions in response to regulations and fines against American tech companies.
