Brendan Whitworth, North American CEO of ABInBev (BUD), recently lamented the way the beer industry describes U.S.-produced beer, urging distributors, retailers and bars to call these brews "American" rather than "domestic," according to CNN.
“It’s about time the whole industry begins to unilaterally use one of the strongest adjectives available to us: American,” Whitworth wrote in a 𓄧letter obtained by CNN. “Leave ‘domestic’ for other less glamorous uses.”
Not all beer companies find "domestic" so hard to swallow. When asked about the terminology, Molson Coors (TAP) CEO Gavin Hattersley said he didn’t see the need to raise awareness about its beers' legacies in the U.S. and Canada. The company's "core brands" have gained marketshare since 2023, Hattersley said 🍰during a Thursday conference call with analysts.
“We’re obviously very proud of our heritage, and I would suggest that everybody knows about the roots,” Hattersley said, according to a transcript made available by AlphaSense. “Our brands are in a great place, particularly our core brands... And so that's where our focus is."
Both beer giants have multinational backgrounds. And both have adjusted where they manufacture as 澳洲幸运5官方开奖结果体彩网:U.S. trade ﷺpolicies have evolved in 🧔recent years.
Coors grew out of breweries established in Wisconsin, Colorado and Canada. Today, the corporation has principal offices in Colorado and Canada, according to its earnings report, and products that pay homage to both nations, including Molson Canadian and Milwaukee’s Best.
The company produces "almost all of our products in the market in which" they’re consumed, Hattersley said, while referencing Coors' decision to move production of Peroni from Italy to the U.S.
Anheuser-Busch developed out of a brewery in Missouri, where it still has its headquarters, according to its quarterly report.
