Basia Hellwig is a longtime editor and writer for consumer and business magazines. As a principal of Qwerty Communications Inc., a magazine consultancy that specialized in editorial development and makeovers, she has created and edited magazines and websi𒀰tes for well-known brands such as Scientific American, AARP, Target, and Consumer Reports. Her own consultancy, HerWork.Com, focuses on creating content for career-minded and entrepreneurial women—its first project was creating, hosting, and maintaining the original website of Catalyst, the research and advisory organization about women in corporations.

Basia’s most recent business coverage has focused on managementಌ, finances, and social media strategies for small businesses, from dance retailers to Brooklyn artisans. She is a founding editor of and of ™—a blog that “focuses on artisanal businesses, small or micro, that arise to express the passions [of] and provide livelihoods for their creators.”

Basia started her journalism career at Reader’s Digest Canada. She has held executive-level editorial roles at the periodicals Working Woman, Scientific American Explorations, and AARP’s Live & Learn. At Working Woman, she launched its coverage of women’s entrepreneurship, which was a National Magazine Award finalist. Basia earned a BA degree with honors in political science at McGill Univers💧ity Montreal, Quebec, and she studied French language, literature, and civilization at Université Parꩲis-Sorbonne.
